The conclusive number of Kyrgyzstan gambling halls is something in some dispute. As information from this country, out in the very remote central area of Central Asia, can be difficult to acquire, this may not be too bizarre. Whether there are 2 or three approved gambling dens is the item at issue, perhaps not quite the most consequential article of information that we do not have.
What no doubt will be true, as it is of many of the ex-Russian nations, and definitely truthful of those located in Asia, is that there no doubt will be a lot more illegal and underground casinos. The switch to authorized wagering did not energize all the aforestated gambling halls to come away from the dark into the light. So, the controversy over the total number of Kyrgyzstan’s casinos is a small one at most: how many authorized ones is the item we’re seeking to reconcile here.
We understand that in Bishkek, the capital city, there is the Casino Las Vegas (a marvelously original title, don’t you think?), which has both table games and one armed bandits. We will also find both the Casino Bishkek and the Xanadu Casino. Each of these have 26 one armed bandits and 11 gaming tables, separated amongst roulette, twenty-one, and poker. Given the amazing similarity in the sq.ft. and layout of these two Kyrgyzstan casinos, it might be even more surprising to see that both are at the same address. This seems most difficult to believe, so we can no doubt conclude that the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls, at least the legal ones, stops at two members, one of them having changed their title just a while ago.
The nation, in common with the majority of the ex-Soviet Union, has undergone something of a fast change to free-enterprise system. The Wild East, you could say, to reference the chaotic ways of the Wild West a century and a half ago.
Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls are certainly worth going to, therefore, as a piece of social research, to see money being wagered as a type of communal one-upmanship, the apparent consumption that Thorstein Veblen spoke about in 19th century America.
